Established by Alastair MacLeod in 2014 and awarded to a returning student studying Civil Engineering at The University of Queensland in second year or above who is achieving good results and has a desire to make a positive contribution to the life of the College and the community at large. The scholarship will be provided for a single year of a student’s undergraduate course of study, unless the student leaves Emmanuel College or does not comply with academic expectations of a UQ scholar.
Alastair MacLeod was resident at Emmanuel College from 1964–1967 completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons), Civil Engineering. He has been an esteemed engineering professional during his career, working for Port of Brisbane Authority, Hutchison Port Holdings and currently as a Director at MacPorts Pty Limited. Alastair is also offering to act as a mentor to the recipient of this scholarship and, with his extensive experience, his help and advice would be invaluable.
