Random acts of kindness

Written by third year student, Zezette Smith

Over the last two years, we have seen the positive and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. There have been clear struggles for everyone within our community, whether it’s having to do online study, losing work, isolation, uncertainty or even just feeling trapped.

However, in the most recent lockdown, we have seen creativity thrive and love shared throughout the college. Lockdown fell over our annual Wellness Week and we had to cancel a number of the activities we normally run. There were some activities we were able to continue with, one in particular that is a major part of  our normal Wellness Week, which is our random acts of kindness. These are organised by our Wing Leaders to give everyone within their wing a chance to both give and receive random acts of kindness throughout the week.

Under the conditions we all faced, it made traditional pathways very difficult for most, therefore, everyone instead, made some very creative constructions. We had beautiful artwork, origami masterpieces, gorgeous arts and crafts, and much more. All made unique and sent with love.
