About this scholarship
Created in 2019 by former Principal Dr Jane Thomson, this scholarship is to support a returning student to undertake an activity or project relevant to their study and/or vocational interest, such as environmental issues, public or community service, intensive research or study in the arts or sciences, and professional development opportunities.
Preference will be given to students intending to return to Emmanuel College following the experience assisted by the scholarship. Students who are not returning but have made a significant contribution to the life of the College will also be considered.
Examples of activities funded by the scholarship include study abroad, short-term study tours, volunteering experiences, creative retreats, competitive sport meets and personal development courses. This list is not exhaustive; applicants who show broad thinking, flexibility and innovation are encouraged to apply.
How to apply
- previous academic achievements
- a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining
- the reasons you are applying for the scholarship
- the impact it would have on your collegiate experience
- a proposal indicating how the funds would be used
- a written character reference relevant to the scholarship
- a copy of your CV/resume

Rules
Emmanuel College scholarships are subject to the following conditions:
- full time enrolment at a program at The University of Queensland or other Brisbane-based university
- a full year residential offer from Emmanuel College
- an applicant’s agreement to the Residential Terms and Conditions, which form part of the residential offer, including maintaining a satisfactory General Point Average (GPA)
- an applicant’s agreement to abide by the contents of the Student Handbook
All scholarships are awarded on an annual basis for the duration of an applicant’s academic year; and are not awarded by single semester.
