Emmanuel College is home to events and traditions that are uniquely our own, much of which is due to our Scottish heritage. We are the oldest college at UQ.
The Blue Dog spirit is an expression of pride that motivates all who represent the college, whether that’s in the community, on the sporting field or during cultural performances.
Our students have a hard-won reputation for showing up for our mates, meaning Emmanuel College’s colours and chants are always prominent wherever we go!
Welcome Week is what we call your first days at Emmanuel College but, importantly, we allow plenty of time for you to get the most out of your university Orientation Week sessions, too!
Led by our fabulous student leaders, Welcome Week is packed full of fun and new friendships, and it’s designed to make you feel right at home from day one.
You’ll enjoy social events, learning and wellbeing support sessions, campus tours and loads of opportunities to make new connections.
“There's so many events that happen at Emmanuel throughout the year, but I think some of my favourite memories would have to be from Welcome Week. Coming in as a fresher and meeting all the new people is so much fun.”
One of the best parts of Emmanuel College is the involvement of our incredible alumni, affectionately known as Old Dogs.
Many alumni volunteer their time for personal and professional mentoring, while other Old Dogs offer work experience placements that can sometimes lead to future jobs.
You’ll also come across alumni coaching our sports teams, supporting the performing arts and tutoring.
When you meet an Old Dog, treat them with affection because you never know how they might influence your future!
