Emmanuel College Highlanders step up

Emmanuel College Principal Dr Jane Thomson and Emmanuel College Highlanders at the University of Queensland Patron Michael Bryce AM AE heartily congratulate all members of the Emmanuel College Highlanders on their promotion to Grade 2 by Pipe Bands Australia.

The promotion recognises the band’s two years of accomplishments and ongoing competition success in Grade 3 since the merger of the University of Queensland Pipe Band at Emmanuel College and the Queensland Highlanders. The band has held the Queensland Pipe Band Championships title for two years in a row and were awarded second place in the 2018 Australian Pipe Band Championships in April.

Pipe Major Jason Palfrey thanked all the performers and supporters for their efforts. “Grade 2 will not change what we come together to do, which is to dedicate ourselves to our music and strive to continually improve and to play at our best.”

The band celebrates twenty years’ of musicality, dedication, commitment and competition success this year and new members are welcome. Pipers and drummers who want to be a part of a developing Grade 2 competition and performance pipe band are encouraged to contact the Emmanuel College Highlanders.
