How to apply

Key Dates

Emmanuel College welcomes applications from local, regional, interstate and international students planning to study at The University of Queensland. We also offer a number of places to students accepted at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Griffith University and Australian Catholic University (ACU).

You don’t have to wait until you have received your offer from university to apply to Emmanuel. If Emmanuel College is your first choice, we encourage you to lodge your application in our first offer round to give yourself the best chance of securing a place for 2026. So, the earlier you start the application process the better. This gives you plenty of time to organise your documentation and arrange a suitable time for you to attend your interview.

With this in mind, it’s also important to understand that applying early doesn’t guarantee a place at Emmanuel College. In fact our admissions team takes a holistic and values driven approach when assessing applications, embracing a wide range of qualities and perspectives that future students can bring into our community. Our goal is to achieve a diverse cohort of students that reflect society generally; a community made up of different genders, cultures and home geographies, educational and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual identities, ethnicities and races, and a range of extracurricular abilities, to name a few.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact our Admissions team at admissions@emmanuel.uq.edu.au.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Emmanuel College provides financial assistance through scholarships and bursaries for new students commencing at College, and returning students.

While both scholarships and bursaries provide financial assistance, they have different eligibility requirements. Scholarships are awarded on merit based academic accomplishments, sporting or cultural achievements, irrespective of financial need. Bursaries in contrast, are granted to a student who faces economic barriers when it comes to applying to, or remaining at, Emmanuel College. Students are welcome to apply for both scholarships and bursaries.

Emmanuel College is committed to providing access and equity to enable the participation of young adults from all walks of life, who wish to join the Emmanuel community, while pursuing their undergraduate and postgraduate university studies.

The scholarships process for 2026 applications is currently under review, with applications opening later in the year.  To view scholarships offered in 2025, please see below.

Additional scholarships

Emmanuel College also offers three additional scholarships, over and above what you will see available on our website, through The University of Queensland. These scholarships are offered to assist domestic undergraduate students experiencing financial hardship to study at UQ and require applicants to apply directly through the scholarships page on the UQ website. You can read more about the Emmanuel College UQ scholarships, with links to apply, on the UQ website HERE.

Applications for these scholarships close 1 November 2024.
