About this scholarship

The scholarship is named after the late Lucy Morris Stevens and is provided by a bequest from her husband, the late Mr James McMillan Dunn Stevens. Mr Stevens stipulated that the award be:

“In memory of Lucy Morris Stevens who wrote and produced plays and pageants for girls and women in Brisbane between 1929 and 1965, bequeathed by her husband James McMillan Stevens a former Chairman of the Council of Emmanuel College.”

Through the Lucy Morris Stevens Scholarship, Emmanuel College will provide the opportunity for an outstanding collegiate experience designed to support the student to achieve personal and academic success.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • are a returning resident in your second year of study (or above); and
  • are studying Drama, Theatre, Performance or English

How to apply

You need to upload supporting documentation, including:

  • previous academic achievements
  • a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining –
    • the reasons you are applying for the scholarship
    • the impact it would have on your collegiate experience
  • a written character reference relevant to the scholarship
  • a copy of your CV/resume

Selection criteria

We will consider:

  • your previous academic results at tertiary level
  • your demonstrated application for the UQ Study Abroad program

Rules

Emmanuel College scholarships are subject to the following conditions:

  • full time enrolment at a program at The University of Queensland or other Brisbane-based university
  • a full year residential offer from Emmanuel College
  • an applicant’s agreement to the Residential Terms and Conditions, which form part of the residential offer, including maintaining a satisfactory General Point Average (GPA)
  • an applicant’s agreement to abide by the contents of the Student Handbook

All scholarships are awarded on an annual basis for the duration of an applicant’s academic year; and are not awarded by single semester.
