Neil Watson came to Emmanuel College in 1947. In 1950 he graduated in Engineering and commenced work with the PMG Department (later called Telecom Australia and now Telstra). In 1965 he graduated with the degree of Master of Engineering from The University of Queensland.
In 1985 he became State Manager of Telecom and in 1988, following a major reorganisation in Telecom, he became Executive General Manager, Country Division (Australia).
In 1977 he was awarded a Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for services to Engineering and in 1990 the Order of Australia Medal. During his service with Telecom he held a variety of voluntary positions in the fields of Engineering and Management and served as a member on the Council of the Queensland University of Technology in 1989 to 1990. He was Chairman of the Communications Division of the 1982 Commonwealth Games.
Since 1993 he has served Emmanuel College on the College Foundation and the College Council until March 2007.
