Don grew up in Muckadilla, in western Queensland, and was educated at Anglican Church Grammar School, before studying a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law at The University of Queensland while resident at Emmanuel College from 1968 to 1972.
Don is currently a consultant and former Global Deputy Chief Executive of Norton Rose Fulbright. He was Chief Executive Partner of Deacons Australia from 2000 to 2009, National Executive Chairman of Deacons from 1995 to 2000, and Managing Partner of Deacons’ Brisbane office from 1991-1995. Between 1996 and 2000, he was also Chief Executive Officer of Deacons in Asia, responsible for devising the strategy, management, and operations of Deacons’ Bangkok, Beijing, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taipei offices.
Don has 40 years’ experience of legal practice. With a background in tax law, Don became an agribusiness specialist. The diversity of his practice included such high-profile projects as the Cape York Space Project.
Don is Chairman of the Rohrig Group of companies, Chairman of Moore Stephens Australia, and a director of Suncentral Maroochydore Limited.
He is married to Annie with three sons Andrew, Dugald, and Alistair.
