Emmanuel College Council, staff and students congratulate alumna and Council member Adjunct Professor Iyla Davies OAM on her award of a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to education in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Principal Dr Jane Thomson said, “Everyone at Emmanuel College is delighted that Iyla has received recognition of her exemplary service to education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Iyla’s knowledge of college culture, from her days as an Emmanuel student in 1978 and her leadership of The Women’s College at The University of Queensland, means that she serves the College and our students with empathy and acuity.”

In addition to her position on the Emmanuel College Council, Iyla is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Law at UQ, Chair of the All Hallows’ School Board, and a Non-Executive Director of Mercy Community Services and Metro South HHS. Iyla’s previous community service leadership roles include Queensland and National President of Relationships Australia, National President of University Colleges Australia, Director of Legal Aid Qld, Executive Member of Women’s Education Worldwide, and a member of the Queensland Law Society’s Specialist Accreditation Board.
