Dr Keith Hawken

Keith Hawken was born in Melbourne, went to school at Geelong College and completed his tertiary education at The University of Queensland. He attended Emmanuel from 1960 to 1964, studying a Bachelor of Vet Science and was President of the Students’ Club in his final year. He was a keen rower and was part of several victorious College VIIIs crews.

Keith and his wife Blair were married by Principal Rollie Busch in the College Chapel in December 1964 and he was an external tutor while working at the University in 1965.

After a number of years working as a vet in private practice in the Goulburn Valley and the Riverina, Keith returned to Brisbane in late 1977 where he had a practice in the Northern Suburbs. He later was a Partner in a large practice in Hong Kong.

Keith joined the College Council in 1985 and became the Recorder a couple of years later, a position he held until 1991.

Having dabbled in house renovations, Keith now enjoys playing bridge, book binding and photography.
