Dr John Drewe

John Drewe was born in Townsville; his father was an engineer and his mother a teacher. John was educated mainly at BBC, where he was a boarder for eight years. He entered Emmanuel in 1958, studied commerce for one year and then medicine.

John was Students’ Club President in 1962, and was engaged in rowing and football. After graduating in 1964, John worked at Rockhampton Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital for three years. He established his own general practices in Sunnybank and Coopers Plains and practised as a solo GP for 10 years.

John became an Emmanuel College Councillor in 1974. He has four children and seven grandchildren. John lived at Toowong for 20 years and then moved to semi-retirement at Maleny. He is still in close contact with old Emmanuelians of his era.
