Our students’ wellbeing is an important part of life at Emmanuel College. While the academic progress of students is a high priority, we recognise there is also a critical need for pastoral care as students undertake the transition to university studies.
As a community we are committed to caring for students holistically. Pastoral care at Emmanuel exists on many levels, beginning in the residential wings, where senior students are appointed to leadership roles as Wing Community Leaders and provide a valuable source of support to others in their wing. Residential staff, mostly postgraduate students, are also rostered on outside office hours so that support is available day and night.
During office hours staff are on hand to provide pastoral support. Our pastoral care team is comprised of senior staff of the College, and our qualified life coach assists students with motivation and organisation. We can also assist students to access trained counsellors and psychologists by directing them to wellness workshops and counselling through The University of Queensland Health Service.
