The award-winning Emmanuel College Highlanders at The University of Queensland pipe band has been entertaining crowds for over 15 years – and the veterans of concert and competition are still as fresh and enthusiastic as the day they first played. The band’s patron is Michael Bryce AM.
The band performs regularly at a variety of events in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales, proudly representing the College and the University in major annual events such as Anzac Day, the Woodford Folk Festival, and the Australian Celtic Festival.
As well as competing locally, the band has travelled interstate to compete at the Australian Pipe Band Championships and to Scotland for the World Pipe Band Championships.
Band membership is open to all members of the College, the University, and those from the wider Brisbane community. Tuition is provided free in both pipes and drums. New members are always welcome and enquiries should be made in the first instance to Emmanuel College on (07) 3871 9100.

Pipe Band Hire
The pipe band is available to perform as a complete band or as a small group or singularly for formal and informal occasions. Weddings can be enhanced with the skirl of the pipes or a guard of honour, while a piper or band playing at events such as parties or sporting events can add to the sense of occasion. On a more sombre note, a lone piper can add a touching note to funeral occasions.
For further information or bookings, contact Emmanuel College on (07) 3871 9100.
