Open your diaries and mark this all-important date when Emmanuel’s inaugural rugby union dinner will help to launch a rugby scholarship for the College. AUGUST 2009

Canada-Australia Federation Dialogue

Tuesday 4 August 2009

Join us at Emmanuel College for a stimulating dialogue between Ms Cindy Blackstock, Executive Director of First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada and Ms Dianne Harvey, Chief Executive Officer, Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak Limited (QATSICPP).

This Canada-Australia Federation Dialogue will explore First Nations child and family safety and wellbeing in both Canada and Australia and will be moderated by Dr Jackie Huggins AM, Deputy Director of UQ’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit. Professor Michael Keniger, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor of The University of Queensland will provide an opening welcome.

The Dialogue forms part of the agenda for Cindy Blackstock’s first visit to Queensland. During her visit, Ms Blackstock will deliver keynote addresses at Queensland universities and address a number of community organisations in the promotion of First Nations’ methods of working with Indigenous families and communities.

Omega Park Launch

Join us for drinks and nibbles as Executive Dean of UQ's Arts faculty, Prof Richard Fotheringham, helps us launch Omega Park by Emmanuel alumna Amy Barker (1996). Amy won the prestigious Best Emerging Author award with Omega Park at the 2008 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards.
